What does it mean to be an immigrant today? Immigration has and continues to be an intense issue for debate as we grapple with our legacy as a nation of immigrants and battle over the very composition of our country. Beyond attention-grabbing headlines and hardened ideologies, what are the stories of those who sacrifice and dream of a new life elsewhere? What do such stories of migration make possible? What does it now mean to be an immigrant, a citizen, and an American?
The inaugural Leviathan Lab Living Room Series presented performance pieces written by Chay Yew, Dipika Guha, Nandita Shenoy, Samantha Chanse, John Kim, and Frank Katasse that explored stories of immigration.
It was directed by Elena Araoz, Jesse Jou, Flordelino Lagundino, Mei Ann Teo, and Ramon Vinluan, and will feature Jolly Abraham*, Jordan Barbour*, Judy W. Chen*, Claro de los Reyes*, Lydia Gaston*, Tyree Giroux*, Flordelino Lagundino*, Kenneth Lee*, Diana Oh*, Deon Oliverio*, and Tangela Large.
